About the Facilities
The pools and grounds at Burgess Park are complete and full-service. Indoors, find locker rooms and showers, a central lobby area, and front offices. Outdoors, along with three pools, enjoy picnics and shade under the oak trees.
Pools
Three pools are designed to support a full range of activities. During the winter months, the Instructional Pool is fully enclosed by an air dome to keep our young swimmers and instructors warm.
- Instructional Pool: 25 yards x 50 feet, 3.5-6 feet deep, supports 6 lanes, kept at 87 degrees F.
- Performance Pool: 25 meters x 25 yards, 7 feet deep, supports 11 lanes, kept at 80 degrees F.
- Baby Pool: Splashing water fountain and falls, shallow depths for wading, kept at 87 degrees F.
The Air Dome
From November through March, we cover the instructional pool with an inflated dome. The dome is a much-requested feature that provides a consistently warm and predictable environment so you can swim year-round without interruption due to weather. Find out the fun facts and learn about the safety features (PDF)!
On deck
Find places to sit and spread out your towel on our benches, on deck, or on the grass. Food allowed on the grassy areas only. Bring your own lock for our outside lockers. You are welcome to bring pool toys, flotation devices, fins, kickboards, and paddles.
Conduct and safety
Menlo Masters swimmers typically don't need the following reminder, but since we have such a busy pool we post this message for kids and parents. Please help ensure a great experience for everyone. Before you send your young swimmers to the pool for an afternoon, be aware that we wish to maintain high standards for conduct with emphasis on safety. We encourage behavior that is respectful and mature, and our guards will enforce safety rules both on deck and in the pool. Read our pool rules (PDF).
Locker rooms and showers
There are full men's and women's locker rooms that include indoor and outdoor showers. There are also two family changing areas. If you wish to use a locker, please bring your own lock and do not leave belongings overnight. Age policy: Children age 5 and under are allowed in the opposite-gender locker rooms when accompanied by an adult.
Pro Shop
There is a small shop in the front office area where you can buy swimsuits, towels, goggles, swim diapers, and various water-sports items. You can also pick up Menlo Swim and Sport team apparel and gear. Hours are the same as the Menlo Swim and Sport facility hours and you pay for your items at the front desk.
Front desk and offices
The front desk is the first place you'll go when you arrive at the pool. Stop at the desk and give the staff-member your name and the activity you're checking in for. At the front desk you may also register for classes and pick up information about programs and events.
Parking
There are two parking lots on either side of the Burgess gym and pool facility. Both parking lots are shared with the rest of Burgess Park. To minimize impact on the surrounding neighborhood please park in the lots and not on the street. Try riding your bike to the pool!
Surrounding park
The pool facility is located in Burgess Park, in a residential neighborhood next to the Menlo Park city offices and library. Burgess Park includes ball fields, tennis courts, a skate park, gym and picnic areas, all within walking distance of the CalTrain station and central business district of Menlo Park.
