Membership FAQ

Q: What is the annual Team Fee used for?

A: The fee is used for awards, food, intramural event production, and team extras — all things that go into improving the quality and value of the team.

Q: How do I pay for my Menlo Masters membership?

A: You can choose an annual payment or automatic credit card payments either quarterly or monthly. If you're annual, then you need to renew each year. If you're quarterly or monthly, you'll be charged automatically until you cancel your membership.

Q: Why can't I pay my monthly or quarterly membership with a check?

A: Our teams have grown to a size where manual collection of checks each month or quarter is simply not possible. Automatic payment by credit or debit card allows us to collect dues much more efficiently, and it also puts us in a better position to meet our payment obligations for our facilities in a timely manner.

Q: How do I cancel, suspend, or change my membership?

A: We require 30 days advance notice in writing to cancel or change a membership, or to stop automatic payments. Notice for a change or cancellation must be given by the first of any month in order to apply for the following month, since billing is done on the first day of every month. A $25 reinstatement/change fee will be charged for memberships stopped and re-started, for memberships put on hold for any period of time, or for any other administrative changes made to memberships and membership type. To give notice, simply send an e-mail to membership@menlomasters.com indicating you wish to cancel or change your membership, or write to Menlo Masters, 501 Laurel Street, Menlo Park, CA 94025.

Q: USMS sent me a renewal form in the mail/via the web. Should I fill it out and send it in, or wait to do it through our team's registration process?

A: Yes. However, so that we can feel most confident that all our members are getting the insurance protection they need, please ensure that you send your USMS registration in to Pacific Masters Swimming in a timely manner. You may also use their online service! Once you have registered with USMS, please let us know so we can update our records.

Q: Oops. I already mailed in my USMS registration. Do I need to do it again?

A: No. Please just make sure we are aware that you've already registered for the current calendar year.

Q: If I'm bringing in my USMS form to the pool, to whom do I make out the check for the USMS fee?

A: Normally, you don't need to write a check at all. We add in the USMS fee during your Menlo Masters membership registration process. If for some reason you do need to write a separate check for the USMS fee, please make it out to Team Sheeper, not Pacific Masters Swimming or Menlo Masters, despite what it may say on the form.

Q: Can I come to the pool to swim laps for free?

A: No. We need to charge for any swimmer who comes for laps, but we provide a discount to Menlo Masters members. You can add unlimited Lap Swimming to your Menlo Masters membership for $10.00 per month. Otherwise, please drop in whenever you wish and pay the Lap Swim drop-in fee. More about Lap Swimming.
